Unbeaten, Undamped

Unbeaten, Undamped

There was once a girl, her heart so pure,

She was a dove with wings to soar.

She smiled with glee, tendrils in hair,

Heart so black, a monster lurched in his chair.

Wanted her beauty for him to snare,

Love's disrepair, his ashen intent bare.

He sunk his teeth, turning her stone,

And left her empty, void of hope.

She stood there crouched, all defeated,

She wept in silence, she felt all beaten.

Distraught, she thought her stage had tilt,

But hid there Gold, beneath the silt.

He clutched her hand, a man of word,

And gave her strength to fight the world.

And she knew her leaf had turned over,

She burned old books and weaved all over.
